On the first Saturday in February, thousands of libraries across the world celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day by offering free activities for families. Your local library is an ideal place for children to play, discover, make friends, and have fun. And Take Your Child to the Library Day is the perfect time to experience some everyday library magic!

Here at the Ames Free Library, we believe that the best way to celebrate anything is with cake... and books! Little ones can celebrate how sweet the library is by practicing their fine motor skills at our play-dough cake decorating station. And bigger kids can create a towering cupcake bookmark; kids and adults are invited to check out a book (or 99!) to go with it. Miss Alyisha and Miss Hannah have put their favorite books on display for your browsing enjoyment. Before you leave, "bake" the world a "batter" place by adding some stickers to our mystery sticker mosaic poster located downstairs in the library's "Living Room."
